Hasan Bektaş: If There Had Been Railway Guards, We Would Not Have Witnessed Such an Accident

Hasan Bektaş, Chairman of the Union of United Transportation Workers, commented on the train accident occurred in Çorlu, which left 24 people dead and 338  wounded.

Five wagons of a passanger train went off the rails in Tekirdağ, Çorlu and left 24 people dead, 338 wounded.

“There were railway guards, who routinely controlled rails. This position was sustained five years ago. Now, there is nobody to control rails. Because profit is more important, security preventions was upheld. This accident probably wouldn’t have happened if there were guards still working,” said Hasan Bektaş.
