Workshop for Key Biodiversity Areas from DoğaDerneği

DoğaDerneği (Association for Nature), held a workshop in Ankara with an aim of updating Turkey’s key biodiversity areas (KBAs), determining the changes in species and preserving them in their own areas.
12 Mart 2018
ItriLeventErkol, Coordinator for Preservation Programme, said that Doğa has been the most important representative of KBA approach since its foundation 15 years ago and continued:
“Workshop for KBAs got experts, academicians and scientists together. Many people studying in the areas of plants, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, freshwater fish, butterflies and dragonflies came together to update data of those species and discussed on how to share the outcome with the public. Now, we have a road map and we continue studying on a method which will get its support directly from the public but still will be evaluated by a group of experts. This workshop has showed us how strong the nature of Anatolia is. Although there are many ongoing constructions of dams, hydroelectric, geothermic power plants and highways, still the rarest species have the ability survive. This fact has given us all hope for the future.”
