We have researched and compiled all the information about the graduate programs in universities for students who want to get a master’s degree in civil society in Istanbul. There are four graduate programs in the field of civil society: Bilgi University Social Projects and Civil Society Organizations Management, Istanbul University Civil Society Organizations and Social Responsibility Management, Istanbul Medeniyet University Civil Society Organizations Management and Marmara University Governance and Civil Society Organizations.

Social Projects and Civil Society Organizations Management 

The aim of the program, which has options as with and without thesis at Istanbul Bilgi University, is to support the civil society. The fee of the department is 21 thousand TL. There is a compulsory attendance at the program that provides scholarships to civil society workers.

Students who want to apply to the department must have ALES Certificate and equivalent GRE Certificate (ALES exam scores on verbal, equal weight or numerical scores should be 55 points or more or GRE test score must be quantitatively 149 points (610 according to the old system)). ALES certificate is not required. In addition to ALES, English proficiency certificate is required. According to the results of TOEFL exam, it is required to get 500 points paper based, CBT 213 and above or IBT 72 and above, 60 points and above in Foreign Language Exam, Interuniversity Council Foreign Language Exam and Foreign Language Proficiency Examination For State Employees. Governance and Civil Society Organizations

This program at Marmara University has an alternative with and without thesis. The aim of the program is to train support teams that will work as managers at various levels in NGOs or who will work project-oriented. Within the scope of the program, basic information including disciplines of Management Science, Public Administrations, Business, Law, Economy, Finance and International Relations are conveyed to students.

Students who want to apply for the program with thesis must get at least 60 points from the related score type of ALES exam as well as an undergraduate degree. For the second education program, students are accepted on condition that they have at least a bachelor’s degree, but there is an ALES exemption. Civil Society Organizations and Social Responsibility Management

This program is available at Istanbul University as a non-thesis master’s program within the scope of secondary education. The purpose of the program is to meet the needs of qualified experts and managers required by Civil Society Organizations and to train professionals who can carry out social responsibility projects of private companies. In addition to having a joint program with the Graduate Program in Sociology, the program also has other diploma programs in the field of social sciences and opportunities for cooperation with various Civil Society Organizations.

The language of the program is Turkish and its quota is 15 people. Students who want to apply to the program must have at least a bachelor’s degree and they should attend the interview held by the Department. Minimum admission scores and weights are determined within the framework of Istanbul University Graduate Education Regulation and by the conditions determined by the Senate. Management of Civil Society Organizations

This program takes place in Istanbul Medeniyet University as a non-thesis graduate program within the scope of secondary education. Anyone who has a bachelor’s degree from foreign faculties or colleges whose equivalence is accepted by YÖK or students who want to specialize in the management and operation of educational institutions can apply to the program. There is no ALES requirement in the program application.

The quota of the program is 40 people. The program fee is 3 thousand TL in the first semester and 3 thousand TL in the second semester. Discounts are made to Istanbul Medeniyet University staff and to their relatives. If students who wish to pursue a master’s degree in this field successfully complete the program, they can work as a middle or senior manager in non-governmental organizations in administrative and financial affairs, human resources, project development, fundraising, capacity building and other related units.
