Social Entrepreneurs’ Network Ashoka Turkey Supports Fact-Checkers

Founder of the online fact-checking platform teyit.org, Mehmet Atakan Foça has become the new fellow of Ashoka’s network.

Founded in 2016, teyit.org analyzed a total of 413 news and reached 1.2 million single users. teyit.org aims to encourage people to think critically and to have awareness about accessing true information.

Mehmet Atakan Foça said in the ceremony: “Joining Ashoka’s network has given us power and courage. We will continue pursuing our dream of an internet, through which information spreads more democratic and equally, accessing true information is much easier.”

Mehmet Atakan Foça and his team verified widespread false facts, trending doubtful news, the claims made by the mainstream media and urban legends. They provided trainings for over 300 journalists and worked with 1000 university students on media literacy.
