Şişli Municipality and Association for Struggle against Sexual Violence Lined Up against Child Abuse

Şişli Municipality, with the cooperation of Association for Struggle against Sexual Violence, has led the way and carried out a project against child abuse titled “Child Will Tell, Listen and Prevent the Abuse!” The project aims to set an example for every local government. Families, teachers, health personnel, the city police will get training on how to listen to and understand children that are abused, and how to respond to sexual abuse cases.

Parents and officers working in different departments of the Municipality –such as health services, social support, etc. – will be trained by experts from Association for Struggle against Child Abuse and Turkish Family Health and Planning Foundation. Within the frame of the project, teachers will get training of trainer to help raise awareness among children, too. Teachers who participated in the trainings will educate children; help them to recognize “well or ill-intended touch”, teach them about their physical rights and the right institutions to ask for help. These trainings are planned to be conducted in every nursery and primary school in Şişli.

A seminar open to parents will also be held.
