Beyoğlu Citizen Council Talked about Local Government

Founded by citizens that prioritize a participatory local government, members of Beyoglu Citizen Council held a meeting about local governments and involvement.   

The aim of the Council is to stand for our future, defend our right to get involved in local governments and to struggle for democracy.

What could citizens demand? How could they get involved?

Gönen Orhan, local government advisor, said it is important to found similar citizen councils to make a city more livable. Citizens a have right to expect a sound infrastructure for sustainable development and production, drinking water, free education to every children that are 0-4 years old, health services and cooperatives in every district, said Orhan.

The next meeting of the Council will be held on 18 October at 19.00 in Suriye Pasajı, İstanbul.
