Turkish Medical Association (TMA) held a press conference after Md. Bahattin Ahmet Yalçın’s being subjected to violence on July 17th in Pediatric Emergency Unit of Şanlıurfa Harran University’s Medical Faculty. Rukiye Eker Ömeroğlu, member of the board, said: “Once again we demand prison sentence for the ones who use violence against health workers.”

“THERE ARE 30 CASES of VIOLENCE ON AVERAGE EVERY DAY”

“Despite all of our efforts, Md. Esin Aslan, Md. Kamil Furtun and Md. Aynur Dağdelen were killed and we see political authority takes no steps against violence in medical units. Violence against health workers have become a widespread and a very serious problem to provide good health care service. There are 30 cases of violence on average every day,” said Ömeroğlu.

“LEGISLATION to PREVENT VIOLENCE in HEALTH CARE SHOULD BE ENACTED in NO TIME”

“Once again, as TMA, we demand prison sentence for the ones who use violence against health workers,” continued Ömeroğlu.
