Refreshment University Which Accepts People over 60 Years Old, Spreads Quickly

Refreshment University was founded with the aim of contributing to a better life of people over 60 years old in Turkey.

The project, first initiated in Akdeniz University, was later implemented in many other universities.

There are only two conditions to join Refreshment University:

To be over 60 years old and pass the test for knitting and mechanics.

Students of Refreshment University take classes on different areas, health being in the first place, archeology, sociology, economy, fine arts, etc. The syllabus also includes compulsory lessons such as repair and mechanics for women, cooking and knitting for men. All educators under the roof of the university teach voluntarily.

Where did the idea come from?

Refreshment University was founded by gerontologist Prof. İsmail Tufan, who completed his doctorate and post-doctorate in the USA.

When the University was first founded, there were only 50 students. Now, however, there are more than 1800 people studying.
